We managed to make it through all of today without bringing up the fact that my Grandma wasn’t with us, until the last gift. It was for my sister from our Aunt. It was a book that my Grandma’s friend had given to my Grandma after hearing the following story. (The story was typed out and inside the book).
One day when my sister was younger and at my Grandma’s they were baking...
I would never know her well enough to know her thoughts in those last minutes, would never know if she left us on purpose. But the not-knowing would not keep me from caring, and I would always love Alaska Young, my crooked neighbor, with all my crooked heart.
